  • Eyebrow ptosis and eyelid ptosis(blepharoptosis): The incidence of eyelid ptosis was 1.8% in the Botox group (0.2% in placebo group), considered to be primarily related to injection technique [4].

Most of the above adverse events are mild and transient. However, risk is not zero. At standard doses and administration methods for facial cosmetic purposes (e.g., 20 units between the eyebrows), severe adverse events are extremely rare. Allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis are not impossible. Therefore, always disclose your medical history and current medications to your physician.

On the other hand, domestic product inserts and FDA Boxed Warnings describe serious risks if botulinumtoxin effects diffuse beyond the intended area. These include dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), respiratory difficulty, voice hoarseness, and generalized muscle weakness.
