About Volux™ XC

Juvéderm® Volux™ (product code: VYC-25L) is a hyaluronic acid filler developed by Allergan (now AbbVie), the world's leading medical aesthetics company. It is a dedicated formulation designed primarily for chin and facial contour definition, and since 2021 has been widely used in aesthetic medicine settings with U.S. FDA approval and European CE marking.

VYCROSS® Technology: Why It Delivers Superior Support

Whereas conventional hyaluronic acid fillers cross-link HA molecules of uniform molecular weight, the VYCROSS® technology employed in Volux™ XC cross-links low and high molecular weight HA in an optimized ratio. This proprietary cross-linking achieves optimal balance between G' (storage modulus) and viscosity at a sophisticated level, resulting in superior lifting capacity that resists shape deformation even when injected deep near the skeletal structure (supraperiosteal placement). Simultaneously, excessive post-injection hydration swelling is suppressed, enhancing predictability of final results.

Clinical Evidence: Efficacy and Safety Demonstrated by Literature

■ Chin Definition (Aesthetic Surgery Journal 2020, DOI: 10.1093/asj/sjaa013): In an 18-month prospective controlled trial (n=132), the Volux (VYC-25L) treatment group showed statistically significant improvement in chin angle (glabella-subnasale-pogonion angle), and over 90% of participants achieved "improvement or marked improvement" on GAIS (Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale). The trial also confirmed safety of repeat treatment (at 18–24 months).

■ Facial Contour Definition (Aesthetic Surgery Journal 2024–2025, DOI: 10.1093/asj/sjae147 / sjae172): In a U.S. multi-center randomized controlled trial (n=157 treatment group vs. 49 control group), at 6 months post-treatment, significantly more participants in the treatment group achieved ≥1 grade improvement on ALJDS (Allergan Jawline Definition Scale), and FACE-Q scores (lower face and jawline satisfaction) showed marked differences versus the control group. Treatment Flow

During consultation, we confirm your desired contour and facial line, measure facial proportions (golden ratio and facial thirds), and determine the design. Immediately before the procedure, a local anesthetic cream is applied and you wait (approximately 20–30 minutes) to minimize discomfort, then injection is performed. Injection uses an ultra-fine needle or cannula, carefully placing small amounts in the appropriate layers from the supraperiosteal region through subcutaneous tissue. The procedure typically takes 15–30 minutes.

Downtime and Recovery

Immediately to the next day, swelling, redness, and mild bruising at the injection site may occur. Swelling typically subsides within 3–7 days, and near-final results are visible within 1–2 weeks. Bruising varies by individual but typically resolves within 1 week in most cases. Daily activities are possible immediately after treatment, but please avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, sauna, and strong pressure to the treated area on the day of treatment. Duration varies individually, but clinical trials confirmed effects lasting 12–18 months or longer in most cases.

Safety: Dissolution Possible with Hyaluronidase

Hyaluronic acid is identical to biological substances in the body and can be dissolved and removed using hyaluronidase, an enzyme preparation, if needed.
