The difference is that it does not damage surrounding tissue and offers superior design capability. VASER liposuction does not damage tissue because it uses ultrasound. In liposuction surgery, a liquid called tumescent solution is typically injected into the fat tissue before aspiration. In addition to softening fat to make it easier to aspirate, this solution also contains anesthetic and hemostatic agents, reducing bleeding during surgery. Conventional liposuction aspirates fat in this state, but VASER liposuction applies ultrasound (VASER waves) to the fat at this stage. The tiny bubbles created by this process break down the connections in the fat tissue, making it even easier to aspirate. As a result, the fat, which has become almost liquid-like and viscous, is drawn out using a blunt-tipped cannula, minimizing damage to surrounding tissue. Fat can be thoroughly removed, enabling delicate design VASER liposuction breaks down the connections in fat tissue using ultrasound and draws out the fat floating in the anesthetic liquid. Therefore, compared to conventional liposuction, which aspirates fat in chunks, it can remove fat thoroughly and consistently (removal of up to 90% of subcutaneous fat is possible). These characteristics not only contribute to fat reduction effects but also work in favor of design reproducibility, such as emphasizing muscle lines or creating smooth, feminine curves. Why is the design capability superior? It is because breaking apart fat tissue allows us to approach fat in shallow layers close to the skin and deep layers around muscles—areas that are difficult to treat with conventional liposuction.

The advantages are superior fat removal capability, safety, and tightening effects. The disadvantage is that results vary depending on the surgeon. 【Advantages】 First, more fat can be removed compared to conventional liposuction. This is because fat tissue is broken apart before aspiration (see "What is the difference between VASER liposuction and conventional liposuction?" for details). Second, it offers high safety. Since fat tissue is broken apart before being drawn out, unnecessary damage to surrounding tissue is avoided. This results in minimal bleeding and faster post-operative recovery. Third, a tightening effect can be expected. One concern after liposuction is "Will the skin sag?" but with VASER liposuction, a skin-tightening effect can be anticipated. The preserved fibrous tissue surrounding the fat tightens firmly after surgery. Gradual tightening occurs within about 3 months after the procedure. 【Disadvantages】 The disadvantage is that results are not the same regardless of who performs the procedure. While VASER liposuction is high-performance, it requires a certain level of skill and experience to operate accurately. To prevent failure, surgeon selection is an important factor, so please exercise caution. At minimum, we recommend avoiding procedures performed by doctors without certification credentials.

Because we can minimize damage to surrounding tissue. 【VASER liposuction minimizes tissue damage】 Downtime from liposuction occurs when surrounding tissue is damaged during surgery. With current technology, it is impossible to eliminate all damage to surrounding tissue during liposuction, so some downtime is unavoidable. However, with VASER liposuction, since fat tissue connections are broken apart before aspiration with a blunt-tipped cannula, the risk of damaging surrounding tissue other than fat is reduced. As damage to surrounding tissue decreases, downtime is shortened.

Many patients take time off for approximately 3 days after surgery, which is the peak pain period. 【It is important to decide when to return based on your lifestyle and physical condition】 Downtime depends on the area where liposuction was performed and the volume of fat removed. Additionally, since the sensation of discomfort after surgery varies from person to person, it cannot be generalized. While some patients return to desk work the next day, generally many patients take time off for approximately 3 days post-surgery when pain peaks. For jobs with significant skin exposure, such as work in the water trade or gravure photography, it is advisable to observe for about 1 month until bruising and swelling subside.

Please consider the total downtime for VASER liposuction to be approximately 3 months. 【Pain (Onset: immediately after surgery to around 2 weeks)】 If appropriate anesthesia is administered, you should experience virtually no pain during surgery. Post-operatively, the first 3 days or so represent the peak, after which the pain gradually subsides. The pain is similar to intense muscle soreness, but the severity varies depending on the area of liposuction and the volume of fat removed (pain tends to increase with larger areas, such as the thighs or abdomen, and greater volumes of fat removal). 【Swelling (Onset: immediately after surgery to around 2 weeks)】 Swelling may occur when fluid (anesthetic solution or lymph) accumulates in the space left by fat removal. This symptom is particularly pronounced in the lower body where fluid tends to stagnate, so special attention is needed when liposuction is performed on the thighs, knees, calves, etc. This is managed with compression immobilization using body suits or tights. Additionally, warming the surgical area to promote blood flow and facilitate the elimination of waste products is also an effective approach. 【Fibrosis (Onset: 2 weeks to 3 months post-surgery)】 Fibrosis appears as part of the body's natural healing response, as fibrous tissue fills the space left by fat removal. Natural recovery occurs within 3 to 6 months after surgery, but self-care such as improving blood circulation and massage to break up the fibrotic tissue can accelerate recovery.

By performing post-operative self-care, you can shorten the downtime period and reduce symptom severity. 【Care Method 1: Icing】 Effective for addressing pain and bruising. It reduces swelling and alleviates symptoms. 【Care Method 2: Massage】 Effective for improving bruising, swelling, and fibrosis. It improves lymphatic flow and accelerates symptom recovery. 【Care Method 3: Bathing】 Effective for improving pain, bruising, swelling, fibrosis, and other symptoms. No such reports exist. In fact, medical literature reports that it is no different from fat harvested by other methods. Properties of Fat Harvested via VASER Liposuction Research published overseas has compared in detail the fat harvested using ultrasound, as in VASER liposuction, with fat harvested by other means. According to these studies, there were no statistically significant differences in properties between fat harvested using ultrasound and fat harvested via conventional liposuction. Similarly, there were no statistically significant differences in the number of SVF (adipose-derived stem cells), which is critical for fat transfer engraftment. From these findings, it is concluded that VASER liposuction is useful for harvesting large volumes of fat, and the harvested fat is useful as material for transfer (no different from conventional liposuction).

Burns and unnatural appearance due to over-removal of fat are possible outcomes. 【Burns】 Burns can occur if ultrasound control is mishandled or if the cannula tip contacts the skin. 【Unnatural Results】 Over-removal of fat resulting in an uneven surface. Changes in skin tone. Removal of fat that should serve as support, causing sagging of the buttocks or area above the knees. Insufficient removal of subcutaneous fat, resulting in skin laxity. Such failures do actually occur. 【Causes and Prevention of Failure】 All of the above failures result from surgeon inattention or insufficient technique.
