Results are experienced in two stages

Thermage is a treatment where you can experience results in stages. There are said to be primary and secondary effects. Immediately after treatment, you can experience a tightened feeling, lift, firmness, and radiance. When applied in a way that improves sagging, many patients report hearing "Did you lose weight?" from those around them about 1 week after treatment. With the secondary effect, collagen is regenerated within the skin. This allows you to experience further skin tightening effects.

Improves sagging and fullness around the mouth

By delivering Thermage, you can eliminate the sagging around the mouth that concerns you. It is particularly effective for the puffy fullness around the corners of the mouth and facial slimming throughout the cheeks. Since the area around the eyes (down to the bone) can also be treated, it is also recommended for those who want to add firmness to the eye area.

HIFU is often mentioned as a similar treatment to Thermage. Both Thermage and HIFU are non-invasive sagging treatments with minimal downtime, making them easy to receive. The difference lies in the areas they target. Thermage works on the skin and the shallow layer of subcutaneous fat, while HIFU works from the deep layer of fat to the SMAS muscle layer. Thermage, which works from the skin to the shallow fat layer, is highly effective for tightening in those whose sagging is primarily due to skin, while HIFU, which works from the deep fat layer to the SMAS muscle layer, is highly effective for tightening in those whose sagging is primarily due to subcutaneous fat. In other words, Thermage has a higher skin-tightening effect.

Thermacool primarily targets the fat layer in deep areas near muscle, with a similar target to HIFU, but high energy is required to reach deep layers, which resulted in strong pain near the skin surface—a disadvantage. For this reason, a cooling device is used in conjunction. Although it works on deep layers, the results are not as pronounced as with HIFU, and there have been cases where the desired effects were not achieved. However, because Thermage targets shallower layers than Thermacool, when combined with HIFU, it allows treatment of both shallow and deep layers at optimal depths, delivering even higher tightening and sagging-improvement effects. Additionally, by targeting relatively shallow layers, there is no need to apply unnecessarily high energy, reducing the risk of burns and minimizing discomfort. This makes the procedure more accessible compared to traditional Thermacool.
